Green Kid Crafts – earth friendly creativity

Green Kid Crafts has been formulated by mum’s, to create as much quality time as possible for you and your kids. Penny Bauder the CEO and founder of Green Kid Crafts is a busy working mum, she wanted to make the most of the limited time she had with her kids. As an environmental scientist Penny always strived to bring her kids as close to nature as possible. But as us mum’s know getting organised in advance can sometimes seem impossible.

Green Kid Crafts really is a Green business – not only do they use safe sustainable materials for all their products, each item as been certified Carbon neutral! All their boxes are 100% recycled and they use recycled labels and envelopes for shipping. They bundle up the materials using planet-based compostable clear bags. All the craft supplies are either compostable, recyclable or reusable. They also give a minimum of 1% of sales to environmental organisations.

Unfortunately at this present time Green Kid Crafts is only posting to North America and Canada, however after contacting them they informed me, they’re in the process of working towards an international market – So watch this space!

Teepee Learning – Flash Cards

Teepee Learning in my mind is the definition of an Eco friendly business, every step possible has been taken to make sure their product is as Green as it can be – and in my opinion they have done a fantastic job.

Flash cards are a fun and educational way of learning with kids. Our twins are still a little young to grasp the idea of a flash card, however they love looking in books and picking out the pictures we named – I thought I’d start looking around for flash cards and was kind of disappointed with what I found, all the food ones I saw were either cartoon pictures and/ or pictures of cakes, sweets, donuts, milkshakes etc – this was certainly not the kind of information I wanted my kids to learn.

I wasn’t in a rush to find any cards so I left it and forgot about them – then I came across Teepee Learning on Instagram!

The cards that Teepee Learning make were the sort I was hoping to find: beautiful actual imagery, healthy information and to top it all off Eco friendly.

As I said before Teepee Learning have gone to every effort to make their product Green, they have achieved this by using 100% Organic fabric for the bag the cards come in, the cards are printed on FSC stock that uses sustainably harvested forests, and even down to the wooden button featured on the bag – this comes from fallen trees.

I was really excited to receive my flash cards and see what the kids made of them. They are as I thought a little too young but that will change very quickly! The kids loved looking at the pictures though and ‘sorting’ them all out on the carpet.

I really enjoyed reading through the cards and actually learnt a few things myself. These cards are not just a beautiful picture and a letter – On the back there’s lots of information that enhances the learning experience, like ‘Fun Facts’, 3 facts about the fruit/veg you might not know, like the banana plant isn’t actually a tree, it’s a type of herb! – There is also a list of why that fruit/veg is good for you – A few fun ways on how you can eat the fruit/veg – And a yummy healthy recipe that includes the produce your learning about.

It feels great knowing I’ve got these fabulous flash cards for when the kids are a little older, we are trying so hard as parents to keep our kids healthy and informed on what’s right and wrong, it’s a massive challenge and something that will be life long i’m sure – Little aids like Teepee Learning’s flash cards are very, very welcome in our home. Thank you.

teepee4I was lucky enough to get an interview with the lovely Sara from Teepee Learning, I’ll be posting it in the next few days so keep an eye out.
